Sending solidarity to the staff at Keele University 🐿️ who are having to get back on the picket lines this week to make themselves heard. They are a dedicated and inspirational team who deserve fair pay and working conditions as a minimum. We are with you! 💪 Keele UCU

A reminder as many branches are out on strike day 2 (and some are out on day-much-more-than-that!) They fight for all of us, so we'll support all of them.

Like many unis, Keele University 🐿️ set out to break the union during the MAB. With indefinite 50% deductions they sought to deter, punish, create hardship and division. We organised wage sharing and hugely disrupted assessment. Now we are on strike all week. We will NOT be broken.

Every single strike day is time lost that should have been spent on teaching, research, etc.. UCEA thousands of students & staff are waiting on you to do the right thing, settle the dispute and let us get back to what we do best. #ucuRISING #ucu #ucustrikes #HigherEducation

😆 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why don't you ask the 100s of staff standing on picket lines this week? Clue: the answer is not: -cutting staff pay, -excessive workloads, -insecure precarious employment contracts or -unequal pay based on racial identity, gender identity & disability

Funny that ‘local growth’ never applies to staff pay, which continues to fall in real terms. We also desperately need some ‘regeneration’ and ‘recovery’ of staff goodwill and morale.

We strike because we believe without a doubt that our working conditions are student learning conditions: inequalities and inequities in the workplace undermine our ability to give students the world class education and transformative experience they deserve #ucu #ucuRISING

Don’t worry, there’s no need to thank the staff who routinely work over their paid hours at the detriment of their health to deliver this teaching ‘excellence’.

Thanks to all branch members who voted and made sure others did too. While we didn't achieve a national mandate, we showed our strength in branch and will use that energy to move forward. Hopefully this will inspire serious reflection from HQ about the handling of the MAB.
