🐟Busy day in the Furnace, Newport hatchery for our Marine Institute captive breeding program for freshwater #PearlMussels. The team are looking for #glochidiosis (larval mussels attached to the gills) in the 2023/2024 cohorts of salmon and trout. All fish are measured and checked for

You just don't know what you will find when your exploring with an Underwater Drone 👍 eel's are very curious of the drones 😆 Go to hydrone.ie to see the training Philip Keena can provide to get you exploring under the surface!! #research #recreation #exploring

New Pearl Mussel broodstock just arrived in the Marine Institute Furnace hatchery from the Owenea and Newport rivers. 🫰🏼🫰🏼 they will release glochidia in the next month or so #margaritifera

Well done Elvira de Eyto and team. 🤞🤞 it's a good sign.

Thanks BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland for letting me use my ROV to get some footage of macrophytes with you👍 species Najas flexilis and Hydrilla recorded with the use of ROV Great workshops and field days organised by BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland highly recommend #ROV #aquaticplants #exploreunderthesurface

Great excitement here to today when Philip Keena spotted some of our Freshwater Pearl Mussels releasing glochidia into the fish tanks. The salmon 🐟was having a taste. The 2nd 🎥 is of snapping glochidia under the 🔬 looking for a fish. #CaptiveBreeding Marine Institute National Parks and Wildlife Service

Trichodiniasis and glochidiosis in one 📽️!! Once the Pearl mussel glochidia have been released from their mother, they have 24 hours of snapping to find a🐟 Heres some footage of encysted glochidia, and Trichodina, a gill parasite 🛸 Philip Keena Marine Institute National Parks and Wildlife Service

HyDrone located and retrieved a temp logger (missing for 3 Years!) using QYSEA · FIFISH AI ROV ROV! Logger will give useful information of the site👍Thanks to National Parks and Wildlife Service and Pascal Sweeney for reaching out. Go to hydrone.ie to get in touch with Philip Keena for more info
