It's confirmation of the Post's story that there are anonymous briefings that directly contradict what every expert on shipping that has commented thinks is conceivably possible; but gives no further answers on where this is coming from and why. [4/4] marineforum.online/schon-wieder-e…

"Giles uses his new book to not simply give us a wake-up call, but to systematically beat us over the head with the alarm clock." I've just discovered that Kevin Rowlands has written a review that's so enjoyable it makes me want to read my own book. naval-review.com/book-reviews/w…

Keir Giles Yep; went for B but I quite like how these turned out. Nevertheless, I will get some roundels done in proper WW2 RAF format as I like the idea of aircraft with them vaporising fascists from the sky again for the first time since WW2

If European leaders still think of the US as Europe's closest ally, they need to revise their assumptions as a matter of urgency. Hard to do, of course, because it means ditching 80 years of core foreign and security policy assumptions and spending a *lot* more on defence.

An important and timely review - by the X-less Peter Tesch - of the excellent new book from Keir Giles. Plenty Australia can learn from Europe about how to manage (or mismanage) security threats. afr.com/world/europe/w…
