I wish it were under different circumstances but the entire world is getting a glimpse of what makes western North Carolina & her people so special. Some people have never been in our mountains before & in spite of tragedy our beauty reigns supreme. ❤️ #mountainstrong

Post with 5 million views claiming there is a land grab happening and that a militia should try to overthrow FEMA. The internet has broken peoples brains.

One thing that's been reaffirmed to me during this #Helene disaster in #NorthCarolina: We have a lot of crises in the U.S., but few are as significant as the information crisis. People are lying to us to make us hate each other, to get our money, to boost some cause or another.

The Town of Black Mountain is asking folks to hold off on donations for a few weeks. We are overwhelmed with supplies. Some churches are even having to turn supplies away. It’s a logistics nightmare. We’ll need help for MONTHS. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Hi, local reporter who’s also been traveling some of the most rural and hard hit areas across WNC. You’ve shared my reporting before, so I assume there’s some trust in me. Here’s the context I’ve learned on the ground:

43 million Americans have left college with no credential. That’s the higher-ed crisis. Just as important as getting students to college is connecting them with institutions that have a track record of success, offer credentials of value, and provide adequate student support.
