In the last couple of days Matteo Monti, PhD and I were at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium with @CuesClues Jennifer Sneed Natalie_Danek collecting crustose coralline algae (#CCA), #octocorals and Porites larvae. Here is a video of the #coral #larvae spawned in one night! 😍

Come check out AES06 - Emerging Environmental Pathogens today at 1:45 PM during #Microbe2022! This session includes many awesome people, like our collaborator @lebetimonas as well as our very own Erin Papke talking about her #SCTLD research!

The C-COT working group is putting into practice yesterday’s theory session by Dr Greta Aeby on Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease monitoring in today’s field session on Grand Caymans’ coral reefs. Thank you Cayman Islands Department of Environment for all the field support during the C-COT workshop!

Hotel ballroom science. Kelly Pitts from the The Coral Health and Marine Probiotics Lab prepping some demo probiotic paste (everything but probiotics) for our joint booth at Coralfest tonight on Grand Cayman.

This model coral reef is made up of hundreds of overlapping photos using a technique called photogrammetry. At yesterday's C-COT workshop, Will Green Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS) explained how to gather data from imagery to better understand how reefs are changing and inform their management.

Kelly Pitts lead a team in Grand Cayman to show how to use probiotics to treat corals with #SCTLD along their reefs! Although no bacteria was involved this time, everyone now knows how to use our bagging and paste methods! Great job, Kelly!

Dr. Blake Ushijima Erin Papke and Kelly Pitts discussed the benefits of using probiotics to treat #SCTLD at an invention workshop in Grand Cayman hosted by Cayman Islands Department of Environment and the C-COT working group. Thanks for inviting us! it is wonderful to see such passion for treatments! JNCC

Carolina Melendez Declet, Kelly Pitts, and @kscheue22 attended the IRL Science Festival! They showed young scientists how we treat corals with probiotic paste, only this time using elementary school slime. It was clear they had a great day as every inch of the table was covered in goo!🧪👩🔬

Princesses, vampires, and mad scientists! This Halloween party had it all. 🚨 Our paper on probiotic strain McH1-7 is finally here!! 🚨 Check out our publication to see how well this strain fights and inhibits the transmission of #SCTLD! Publication alert! Working with The Coral Health and Marine Probiotics Lab Dr. Blake Ushijima and Chris lab, we investigated microbial size classes associated with the transmission of #SCTLD
