A2. Families love to visit Kenai Fjords! In fact, North Pacific humpback whale families (cows with calves) will travel as much as 3,000 miles from Hawaii, Mexico, and other Pacific islands to visit Kenai Fjords every summer. #TravelAlaskaChat NPS Photo/ K Thoresen

A5. In Kenai Fjords we always recommend these three activities: 1. Visit Exit Glacier, one of Alaska’s most accessible glaciers 2. Explore the fjords and marine life 3. Attend a ranger-led program. #TravelAlaskaChat

A6. One tip: layers, layers, layers! The weather can be warm and sunny to cold and rainy. In the town of Seward we can get over 60 in of precipitation a year, and you don’t want to let the weather stop you from getting out into the Park. nps.gov/kefj/planyourv… #travelalaskachat

A7. Safety first! If you’re hiking in Kenai Fjords we recommend learning the basics of bear and moose safety. Never approach wildlife, and do your best to avoid surprising wildlife by hiking in groups and making noise while you hike. nps.gov/kefj/planyourv… #TravelAlaskaChat

Mountain goats are adapted to life on steep, rugged terrain. Imagine what it would feel like to look down on the fjords from a mountain goat’s perspective. Consider what it takes for them to survive in this environment. How are you like a mountain goat? #kenaifjords #goat

Who is this vole-uptuous little animal we found at the Exit Glacier Nature Center? This pavement isn’t a great place for it to hide and owl bet it would make a great snack! NPS Photo / B Kane #KenaiFjordsNationalPark #Alaska #AlaskaNPS #NationalPark #UnderratedAnimals

It’s been a year since Bear Glacier’s 2019 Glacial Lake Outburst Flood! About every 1-2 years the ice-dammed lake (seen empty in this 9/27/2019 photo) releases down-glacier, flooding Bear Glacier lagoon. View the lake in almost real-time on our website: ow.ly/Fjqy50BuXDu

We might still have quite a bit of snow, but you can always use #walkinaparkday to plan for future adventures! If you think you might like to explore some trails with your four-legged friend, check out some of the trails in our National Forest neighbors! NPS Photo/ S Wright

#ParkChat Q3 Be sure to #knowbeforeyougo and #askaranger Check a park’s current conditions page to see any alerts and conditions going on in the park, and if you are unsure of anything, ask a ranger. We are here to help! nps.gov/kefj/planyourv…

A7 Repeating photos helps us to share the memories and experiences in our park. It also can put changes into the perspective of our own lifetimes. #ParkChat nps.gov/kefj/learn/nat…

The Seward Community Weed Pull on June 24th was a success! We collected 106 pounds of the invasive plant bird vetch (Vicia cracca). A special thank you to all our community volunteers and Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) partners!
