[1:20PM 9/11] Two earthquakes occurred in different parts of the North Carolina mountains yesterday. M2.1 near Rosman and M1.8 near Bakersville. Did anybody at those locations feel any shaking? Credit: USGS Earthquakes #ncwx

Watching for a coastal low next week (Pictured is next Tuesday). Most moisture would be toward the Midlands and beaches, but this could increase our rain chances if it shifts west. Not expected to be tropical, but we'll be monitoring it!

From "when will it stop raining?" to "is it ever going to rain again?!" No big rain makers on the horizon as we continue our dry September after a wet August. No big drought concerns yet, but could develop in upcoming weeks.

First Alert - Next GOOD rain chance looks to come late next week! Models are in good agreement for a soaking rain, and possible a few strong storms.

Rain & storm timeline - Best chance for storms comes Thursday, but showers linger Friday. The weekend is still uncertain, depending on how much this front passes through.

MONDAY EVENING - That's when soon-to-be "Imelda" could be moving into the Carolina coastline. Models trending more toward that track, but there is still a lot of uncertainty since the storm hasn't fully formed. We'll bring you the First Alert

STILL MUCH UNCERTAINTY - But the trends are pushing a tropical system (likely to be named Imelda) toward the coast. Right now it looks like it would be a tropical storm, but can't rule out a stronger hurricane. We could get rain out of it into next week, so stay tuned!

Tropical concerns increasing for those along the coast. Heavy rain and possible DAYS of it, along with strong wind. This all starts Monday, but things could still change. This is the time to prepare, and if you have interests there you'll want to check in!
