Here's my deep dive into Walkabout Mini Golf™ VR + iOS Mini Golf with creator Lucas Martell. It feels long overdue considering how incredible this game is from the astonishing worldbuilding, realistic gameplay, and compelling social dynamics they've been able to cultivate. They also have

Great to hear Tim Sweeney elaborate on the Verse programming language with Lex Fridman. youtube.com/watch?v=477qF6… Interesting expansion of functional programming concepts to work as database queries, & fix single-threaded bottlenecks for large concurrencies for Metaverse-scale

Perhaps the most comprehensive interview of Lucas to date starts: “Walkabout Mini Golf is really an incredible accomplishment of #VR design with its fusion of worldbuilding, compelling physics-based gameplay, the unique social dynamics and community it’s able to cultivate…”

It's clear that WIRED 's piece on the VRChat edm scene is trying to be sensational, and I applaud Ru 🐰🔜 Anthrocon and 2TD small part in the article as being a point of balance. But I am so tired of people equating public lobbies to "what the platform is". Also VKetReal has had

Lhun WIRED Ru 🐰🔜 Anthrocon 2TD The journalist’s speciality is in “psychedelic journalism,” which I think skewed the story in a particular direction. Certainly that stuff is happening, but I’m not sure it is representative of the whole user base. Article link for posterity: wired.com/author/mattha-…

It gets even more Sci-Fi! Apple also announced that the future accessibility update will include a new protocol to allow Brain Computer Interfaces (BCIs) to control iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS devices without any physical movements Such as devices from Synchron demoed here:

David Heaney SubjectiveXP There is React Native, which I think is the best candidate for a cross-platform XR app framework. There is React Native for visionOS, and they would have support for Quest had Meta actually been interested in it (they were not last I checked see interview below). React Native

It's a tough time for VR devs at the moment & I got a State of XR vibe check from Doug North Cook as we cover all of the announcements his game label Creature had in a half-hour showcase on IGN today with 3 new games, a DLC pack, & lots of other updates: voicesofvr.com/1562-highlight…

Google's Project Starline lightfield teleconferencing prototype is getting productized into Google Beam, an enterprise-focused 3D display with 6 cameras that uses AI to create an immersive holographic effect. Should be great for one-on-one virtual meetings that feel co-located.

With the issue finally coming to a head around #VRChat losing CyanTrigger, I'd like to talk about my point of view about the Creator Journey. Here's a portion of a presentation board I made in 2022 (prior to my VRChat contracting work) 🧵

The new VRChat sdk is not compatible with CyanTrigger. If this affects you, voice your concerns to VRChat and include specifics on why the official tools do not provide what you need. Do not rely on unofficial tools. Community members shouldn't be responsible for creators.

There is so much AI Hype right now, and so I'm grateful to have done a deep dive with "The AI Con" book authors @emilymbender.bsky.social & Alex Hanna (اليكس حنٌا) that comprehensively breaks down some of the more hyperbolic claims & harms of AI & LLMs. voicesofvr.com/1563-deconstru…

Someone asked me what I thought of VR games in general in 2025 on our discord. I spent too much time writing this so figured I'd share it elsewhere. This is written off the top of my head so apologies for overbroad generalizations. Coffee-shop tier banter.
