The Kern River is delivering huge amounts of water to the valley and creating thousands of acres of standing water in recharge basins. Mosquito numbers are high and West Nile virus will be active very soon. Prevent the bites this year by using an EPA-registered insect repellent.

Recent storms have dropped lots of water where mosquitoes can breed and multiply. Inspect your yards weekly and dump or drain all standing water sources. No Standing Water means No Mosquitoes!!

In southern California, Aedes aegypti mosquito (aka: "ankle biters") numbers tend to increase in August and September. Remember to inspect your yards weekly for standing water and dump or drain even the smallest amount from containers and other items. No Water...No Mosquitoes!!
