Here is an example of brilliant municipal leadership for all Londoners Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan . Big cuts in the toxic pollution that harms so many children (obviously, Conservatives opposed the attack on the liberty of car drivers to harm public health) 👇👇👇 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

It’s an amazing achievement, but you have to hand it to Scott Bessent: it’s not easy to make Steve Mnuchin look like a paragon of common sense and market wisdom 👇👇👇

Strikes me as a misreading and misrepresentation of Timothy Snyder on tyranny. The book highlights fascist hallmarks - creation of enemies, institutionalising false news, erosion of independent judiciary, politicisation of civil service - and the resemblances are striking.

Some personal news… After 14 years (!) this is my last week at Center for Global Development. More later on what's next, but first a short thread of appreciation for a place which I think is not just special, but indispensable. (This is a bit grandiose, but I'm leaving, so permit me this once.) 1/

It’s good point - the most ‘innovative’ financial lever government can pull is generating revenue from progressive taxation, and spend the proceeds equitably.

I’m a lifelong Spurs supporter (and a big steve richards fan), but i just don’t get this handwringing over Ange. 18 months of awful football. We could have been relegated this year - and quite possibly would be if he stayed.
