Year One have been inspired by artist Andy Goldsworthy. They used natural materials to create circles, swirls and wavy lines.

Year 6 are enjoying the weekly sessions to the local library 📚

Year One created dens for small animals who hibernate, as part of their science lesson. They made sure their dens were comfortable,warm and protected the animals from both wet weather and predators.

Year One learnt about the British value of democracy when voting for their school councillor. The children who spoke did a great job talking about how they could represent their class and spoke with confidence.

How does a river flow? Year 3 built a river model to investigate the features of a river. ⁦Elliot Foundation⁩

Year One created 3D maps of the coppice and then looked at photos taken from above. This helped them to visualise what an aerial view would look like.

We’ve had a busy term with lots of sporting opportunities! We’ve had: 3 Boys Football competitions 1 Girls Football competition 3 Basketball competitions 1 Dodgeball competition 1 Athletics competition Play leader training The opportunities keep coming thick and fast!

In year 4 this week we have been looking at teeth in our science lesson. We discussed the things we need to do to best care for our teeth, like avoiding too much sugar. We put eggs in cola, water and orange juice to see which would have the most effect on the shell.

The whole school have been creating some wonderful poems about Opal Play to celebrate National Poetry Day.

Year 2 enjoyed learning about tuned and untuned percussion instruments this week. They used glockenspiels to begin to learn how to play a melody.

Year 2 testing how waterproof different materials are. Did you know that raincoats are actually called ‘Macintosh’ ? They were created by a scientist called Charles Macintosh.

Everyone in year 6 enjoyed the opportunity to use their inference skills to hot seat the main character Joseph from the story When the Sky Falls by Phil Earle.

Year 2 are feeling very proud of themselves after finishing their clay pots that were created and designed in the style of Yayoi Kusama. The children experimented with different tools to create a range of polka dots of different sizes and colours!

After learning about Diwali from the book, The Best Diwali Ever, Year One created rangoli patterns like the main character. We made sure we started from the inside and worked our way out, using symmetrical patterns.
