There’s a perfectly easy solution to this. If upon the death of a farmer/testator a beneficiary sells the land, pay IH tax on the receipts - including if years’ later. If the beneficiary keeps on farming, don’t. This addresses the problem of rich people buying land to avoid tax

If you own a flat, if you have a mortgage you need to know this happening. Flats are being rendered WORTHLESS by a lack of communication between RICS, UK Lenders and our government.

This makes very sober reading, although sad it doesn’t come as a shock. It’s all very well for Ed Miliband to go around saying all the new builds need to have solar panels but what about the government looking into the quality of new builds?

Housing impacts EVERYTHING - health, mental health, education, relationships, employment & on & on. Without secure, safe housing you’re far less likely to get on in life. Why is being housing minister not up there with Health, Education or Home Secretary?

Kirstie Allsopp Mary Kapadia Ed Miliband What this must do is encourage the development of roofing that integrates solar panels in an elegant way. Sure architects would agree. Why design an attractive property if you’re going to have to put ugly solar panels on the roof?

This kind of thing is really worrying. We need to see good, independent data on Solar Panels before they a made mandatory for new builds.
