Proud day today, after 30 years of reading the The Spectator and around a decade of contributing occasionally I have my first cover. The inside story of government thinking on Iran and Israel. In the shops soon and on the website tomorrow. Subscribe here: spectator.co.uk/join-today/?co…

🆕Will the US attack Iran and should the UK support any action? Plus changes to abortion laws in the UK have sparked debate about the legislative process - assisted dying legislation is in Parliament on Friday. 🎧📺Streaming now. Calum Macdonald | Kirsty Buchanan OBE | Jo Tanner

NEW: A reasoned amendment to the welfare bill is being tabled by 13 Labour committee chairs as first reported by Romilly Weeks It creates a big problem for Keir Starmer & Liz Kendall with around 80 Labour MPs already backing the amendment. If selected, it would give them

"You can plow ahead, U-turn, or remove the bill and come back and fight another day." Kirsty Buchanan OBE says "thoughtless salami slicing" is causing the huge rebellion by Labour MPs. "If they don't U-turn they will be defeated." Calum Macdonald | Jo Tanner

This from Josh Glancy interview with Starmer is important, I said on Kunessberg this AM, Labour have done popular things - min wage, renters, gb energy, sewage but they’ve been drowned out by winter fuel, NI, PIP with people struggling to understand guiding mission of this govt

Reports Rachel Reeves will announce a cut to the cash ISA limit at her 15 July Mansion House speech. If true, I think it's a mistake. I doubt it'll substantially nudge people to invest not save; said to be the aim. This isn't nudge economics, its piss people off economics.

Five years of sitting next to this one most Monday nights… And proof - in this divided world - that you can respectfully disagree on air and still be mates off it. Thanks for everything Harry Cole and good luck!

PM Keir Starmer says he did not realise the Chancellor was distressed during PMQs yesterday but tells Virgin Media ❤️ that she is “fine” today and praises her resilience. He says Reeves will be Chx to “the next election and beyond” and recommits to the Government’s fiscal rules.
