A magical, whimsical morning at the Eric Carle Children’s Picture Book museum. It’s fun but packs a punch re the importance of early access to books for all of our children and to see themselves reflected in what they read.

Congrats to my little sister. Very proud of all she does, especially her comitment to girls and women’s participation. She has made a real impact in her local area glad she will be able to do that on the national stage too.

30 hours later. Still no electricity, the sense of adventure is wearing thin and the freezer is beginning to defrost. However lucky to be in the warm whilst others are not so fortunate.

I have learnt over the years that as a mother everything is my fault. However being responsible for Rees 3’s hangover this morning when she lives over 100 miles away is pushing it. Apparently I should have not told her to have fun last night.

In politics, many believe the worst epitaph is "loser." Some are not strong enough to cope with defeat. Jimmy Carter lost an election and spent the rest of his life settling conflicts, conquering disease and building homes for the homeless. He was in every way a winner.

I will never forget how thrilled she was to win Cardiff Central in 1999. She loved her adopted home city and served it with distinction. As a Minister in governments at both ends of the M4, she made a real impact. Thinking of her family and loved ones at this sad time.

Shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Dafydd El. He was always so kind, encouraging and supportive throughout my career. So many stories and very happy memories. Deepest condolances to Mair and family.

Rees 3 has just done her first ever night shift placement. She is now flat out before she does it again tonight. The attitude of the qualified member of staff supervising can make all the difference so thankyou to that nurse. You have inspired an exhausted but happy 18 year old.

My daughter is currently studying at a US university. She tells me that the atmosphere on campus amongst students is fearful, academics wary, and markedly different from what is was when she arrived in August. Small in the scale of things but sad nonetheless.
