First, what are your goals for this mentor? 1. End goal (skills, establish trajectory, letter of rec, resource) 2. Advocacy (jobs, promotion, consulting, guidelines, sponsors) 3. Time 4. Resources Be honest with yourself [2/7]

Communication is KEY 1. Set & keep recurring 1:1 meetings (frequency based on your goals for mentor) 2. What are the avenues for connecting in between? 3. If feasible, establish a network of junior mentors/colleagues, connected to this mentor, for even more support [3/7]

Best pearls I have learned during intern year: 1) If a service is consulting you, it’s because they need help. 2) When writing up notes, provide a short-term plan, a long-term plan, and anticipatory guidance. 3) Every patient and every consult is a learning opportunity.
