The pathologies of the old woke left have completely migrated to today's conservatives. Speech policing around Israel, Charlie Kirk, constant crybullying tactics, snowflakes galore. So few people actually care about free discourse.

There’s something about the human brain that doesn’t want to accept that an important figure can be taken down by a random nobody, so over and over and over you see people trying to unearth a deep conspiracy when the truth is just “it is not that hard to kill someone with a gun”

The difference between right- and left-wing crazies is that left-wing crazies are confined to gender studies departments and weird corners of Twitter whereas right-wing crazies are currently in charge of the entire federal government.

nostalgia for Good Old Days when national leaders made at least some attempt to unify the US. who could imagine a US President & Vice-President yammering on & on endlessly about "leftists"? millions of American citizens dismissed as if they/we don't exist? don't Democrats pay

Trump is forcing Harper's Ferry to remove all references to slavery. Do people realize that what happened at Harper's Ferry was John Brown's attempt to lead a slave insurrection? To remove those references is like removing slavery references from The Emancipation Proclamation.

actually implementing congestion pricing (over many loud objections, even from the former governor who signed it into law) & funding the modernization of the subway system will probably be in the history books

This is why it’s essential to make NIMBYs bear the externalities of blocking housing. The costs should fall on those creating the problem, not everyone else. For example, raise property taxes on jurisdictions that block housing, and make state/federal funding conditional.

It would have been so easy to say after the primary "I don't agree with everything he stands for, but the voters of NYC have spoken and I look forward to working together." Why build up months of drama about whether the Democratic leader is going to back a crook or Trump's

Her name was Melissa Hortman. She and her husband Mark were shot and killed in their home in an act of vicious political violence. She was Minnesota’s Speaker of the House Emerita. They were dog lovers. Amateur bakers. Great parents. Best friends. You should know their names.

I'm not sad Charlie Kirk is dead and in America, that's allowed I think Charlie Kirk was a bad person who hurt a lot of other people with bigoted words and in America, that's allowed I don't want violence against anyone but the government can't require me to praise a bigot

Another congestion pricing canard dispelled. The traffic toll isn't *augmenting* truck trips into historically overburdened Mott Haven & Port Morris in the S Bronx (near the Bx leg of the Triboro Br), it's *reducing* them. New from me, in @streetsblognyc: nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/09/19/kom…

Truck traffic on the Bronx leg of the Triboro Bridge is down this year, writes Charles Komanoff, belying forewarnings that congestion pricing would funnel trucks into and through Mott Haven and Port Morris, compounding endemic pollution, noise and road danger. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/09/19/kom…

Look, I heard a certain gentleman say quite clearly that the grief of parents with slaughtered children can’t override the second amendment. So why in the hell should grief for a man you have never met override the first?

From the headline and subhed ("Jimmy Kimmel is an idiot. But workers should still defend him.") to the very end, this is terrific.
