#IDDRR2024 discussion emphasized a holistic, multi-sectoral approach to resilience-building, spanning agriculture, health, infrastructure, & education. Strengthening community resilience, & engaging youth in DRR decision-making and activities at all levels was also highlighted.

CISONECC, Oxfam in Malawi & NYNCC, with support from Concern Worldwide Malawi & Oxfam in Africa, are launching the Malawi Climate Justice Caravan! The "Cycling for Climate Justice" event will start in Blantyre & journey through Balaka, Ntcheu, and Dedza before concluding in Lilongwe.

“As we near #COP29, it's time for #ClimateJustice to be upheld,” says Melton Luhanga, CISONECC Board Member. "Developed nations must step up with grants, not loans, to support those hit hardest by the climate crisis. CISONECC stands united to amplify these crucial voices".

Kenneth Mtango, from Renew'N'Able Malawi, highlights the broader impact of climate change: “It’s not just about rainfall; it affects the poor the most. We’re wasting money on charcoal, spending up to 60,000 kwacha a month. Women walk long distances for firewood and water.”

Kondwan Mubisa, Project Coordinator at Oxfam in Malawi, emphasizes that communities in developing nations face the harshest impacts of climate change & deserve a central role in shaping the global response.
