We have two fully funded postdocs (or staff researchers) openings in RNA modification biochemistry and mass-spec. No specific experience needed, just a love of RNA and the courage to try new things. DM for more info, or to chat if you’re in Boulder. #RNA2022 #RNA22 The RNA Society

*Preprint alert* Together with The Kennedy Lab, Josh Jones developed the most sensitive LC-MS/MS method to date for quantifying RNA mods. Tyler Smith & Monika Franco reveal that some of the mods he detects in mRNAs (m1G, m2G, m5U) impact translation. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Last preprint announcement for a few weeks😀. This fun collab with Aaron T. Frank & Dr. Bijoyita Roy investigated translation of mRNAs containing N1-methylpseudoU/pseudoU. Amino acid substitution is tuned UP and DOWN by mods depending on their sequence context! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Today our paper in partnership with Puglisi Labs is published 👇🏽 Great effort from Chris Lapointe 👏🎉 Very proud of this 💪! nature.com/articles/s4158…

We are so excited for the Molecules of Life exhibit that is now up at the Museum of Natural History! Come check out Liz's amazing work bringing Biophysics 421 student's animations and 3D printed molecules to the public! University of Michigan Museum of Natural History Michigan Biophysics

Excited to share the fantastic method developed by Josh Jones and Kaley Simcox to directly sequence total tRNAs from yeast by LC-MS/MS. rnajournal.cshlp.org/content/29/8/1…

Fantastic start to day 2 of #SRCKC24 with a Tandem Talk (where PI & trainee take the stage together!) from Koutmou Lab and Minli Ruan from University of Michigan! #RNA #research
