Say GOODBYE to the humidity! (At least for a few days) Behind this cold front, dew points will fall into the mid 60s, which is the level where we don't really notice the humidity outside. Make some plans to spend time outdoors while temps and humidity are lower Tuesday-Thursday!

The lower humidity and cooler air is here! It's a great day to eat lunch or dinner outdoors. A perfect excuse to check out restaurant week in Downtown Norfolk!

It's perfect weather to lay out on the beach and soak up the sun, but if you're planning to get in the water, be careful. Moderate rip current risk today, high rip current risk Wednesday, and moderate rip current risk Thursday.

Attack of the yellow jacket on Virginia Beach! 😱 This guy has been hanging out on our camera all evening, but every time we tried to show him on air, he got camera shy and hid.

Plenty of sun allows temps to rise into the low 90s. With high humidity, it will feel like we're 105°+. A Heat Advisory is in effect all weekend. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8PM SAT for Dare Co./OBX where heat indices could reach 115°. Stay safe, cool & hydrated.

Later today, thunderstorms return. Isolated storms this afternoon become scattered this evening into tonight. We are under a level 1 of 5 risk for these storms becoming severe. Damaging winds are the primary concern.

Look at these waves! 5-7' breaking waves have created a dangerous surf zone and high rip current risk. It's not recommended to go in the water. Ocean overwash across NC-12 is possible.

Fantastic weather in store this weekend! High temperatures around 80° both days. Humidity/dew points drop throughout the day Saturday and they won't even be noticeable Sunday. Dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Very windy with northeast winds 10-20 MPH gusting to 30 MPH.

Strong 10-20 MPH NE winds gusting to 30 MPH persist throughout this weekend. That will bring us a few concerns: - A dangerous surf with 5-7' breaking waves - NC-12 ocean overwash - Tidal flooding during high tide 4 PM Saturday & 5 PM Sunday - Wildfire smoke moving in from Canada

A look back at July's weather: It was a perfect case of it's not the heat, it's the humidity. We weren't even near placing in the top 10 hottest July's on record. As for the rain: We saw a total of 5.39", leaving us with a deficit of 0.69" from our average 6.08"

A wonderful Fall day in the beginning of August! Highs around 80°, no humidity, dry with sunshine. Still windy with 10-20 MPH northeast winds gusting to 30 MPH. If you're going to the beach, it's recommended to stay out of the water. High rip current risk with 5-7' breaking waves

Keeping an eye offshore. An area of low pressure in the Atlantic along the stationary front to our south could turn into a tropical system. 50% chance. This could bring us increased rain chances Wednesday-Friday. Stay tuned for updates. The next name on the list is Dexter.

TS Dexter is moving NE with minimal impacts. A couple disturbances in the Atlantic: One off the coast of FL with 40% chance of formation in the next 5 days. Brings us rain. Another off the coast of Africa with 50% chance. We'll keep watching both areas & keep you updated.
