Whilst awaiting the arrival of sensational 2019’s from Kumeu River Michael Brajkovich MW I took a look to see if there were any older gems in the cellar. 1998 Sauvignon looks a great colour for its age. Mate’s 1997 has been a bit variable over the years but here’s hoping.

We're on a roll. 23yr old Kumeu River @BrajkovichM Mate's '97 last night. Deep golden colour with lovely purity on the nose. A touch short on the finish but still a remarkable wine for its age. Just one bt left but a much darker colour so may not be as lucky with that one!
