Always read the plaque. Always read the map. The 99% Invisible City now available at the East Coast's oldest map store in Beautiful. Uptown. Providence Rhode Island (only because "on the city line of Pawtucket" doesn't have the same ring). 99 Percent Invisible Kurt Kohlstedt Roman Mars

That's right: I took my custom-made Japanese manhole cover patches (that I had printed in the US) and brought them all the way to Osaka, Japan, to set them on some of the actual manhole covers. All in all, I think I did a decent job of replicating the originals. #99piCity

"Spolia (Latin for 'spoils') are stones [or other materials] taken from an old structure and repurposed for new construction or decorative purposes." Here, the reused elements are purely functional -- soon to be plastered over. (See also: The 99% Invisible City #99pi)

Approaching the six-month anniversary of my brachial plexus injury. My right arm has come a long way from full paralysis, but it's still a work in progress. Meanwhile, being the nerd that I am: all of my splints, slings, braces, etc… feature a 99% Invisible patch. 🤓 #99pi4life

Last year, 99pi's Kurt Kohlstedt suffered a severe injury initially rendering his right arm and hand both completely numb and paralyzed .... This six-part mini-series covers a whole range of adaptive designs or people (like him) with one working hand. 99pi.org/article/adapti…

My boy Ohren's big debut modeling seasonal apparel for a highly relevant article on *checks notes* how his owner's paradoxical nerve damage impacts his human clothings choices 🙃 #99pi #brachialplexus

In which Kurt Kohlstedt ill-advisedly employs fire to hack his shoelaces for one-handed use. More accessible designs and mods where that came from @ 99pi.org/adapt -- the all-new HQ of Adapt or Design, a Project of 99% Invisible. #AdaptOrDesign #LaceLocks #Shoelutions
