I think the burnout problem for ER docs is that most of us got into this field with the desire to save people with acute illness.Instead, we are the on-call doc for every specialty and social workers and data entry clerks with an MD, who sometimes get an occasional save.

Check out our new article on a jack o'lantern ingestion with a review of mushroom toxicity as well. Glad to have worked with Josh Trebach, MD! journals.sagepub.com/share/8ZHFJPMR…

I felt like writing a post in defense of physicians. We seem to be getting a lot of crap recently. But I don’t know really where to start or what say. There is so much cynicism and bad faith and really plain unhidden contempt these days. But why? Because we can’t fix you?

2002 study comprised of 537,303 children showed no association between MMR vaccine and autism. The study was conducted in Denmark, a country with socialized health care, so antivaxers can't cry "big pharma". But no, let's ignore it anyway because...you know...feelings.

Antibiotics have far more side effects than vaccines So why are so many people anti vaccine but have no issue with antibiotics? (which by the way are grossly overused)
