Today, Deputy Ombudsman Heather Wagers joined KY Youth Advocates and other organizations across Kentucky to celebrate Children’s Advocacy Week. There are many critical issues facing KY’s youth and we are committed to advocating for the well-being of every child across the Commonwealth.

During Children’s Advocacy Week, Ombud staff met with members from KY Youth Advocates’s Birth Parent Advisory Council. This council works to provide a voice for all Kentucky birth parents. We look forward to collaborating with them in their mission to support families.

In February, our office released a preliminary report on our investigation into kids spending nights in DCBS offices. Our findings revealed: 🛑 49 kids stayed overnight in offices. 🛑 The average stay was 4 days. 🛑The longest stay spent by a child was a cumulative of 35 days.
