Underground coal mine in Donkin, N.S., for sale, according to a news release from Morien Resources. The mine shut down two years ago after the roof collapsed twice in one week. It was cleared to reopen in March 2024 but has remained idle since then.

CBRM Fire and Emergency Services are responding to a forrest fire in the Kytes Hill subdivision near Sydney. The fire is in the vicinity of heavy transmission power lines. A helicopter and local departments are on scene.

SYDNEY FIRE UPDATE: Fire and Emergency Services are reporting the fire is under control. The location of the fire threatened key power lines and was located approximately 2km from homes. The fire was brought under control with CBRM based wildland equipment and DNR helicopter.
