There’s so many reasons to #ChooseGeriatrics - here’s a few more from my #MedicalStudents at University of Bristol - lots of food for thought for British Geriatrics Society and beyond 💭 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Thanks to BBC Radio 5 Live Adrian Chiles for inviting me to speak about a healthy BMI, diet, exercise for older people. There is so much we can do to age well and live longer. Take a look at evidence for proactive care British Geriatrics Society Good for us as individuals but also for our NHS!!

"By bringing our unique skills and perspective, we are helping to redefine cardiovascular care for an ageing population." In the latest BGS blog, Shahbaz Roshan talks about setting up a Cardiology Older Persons Service (COPS) and the vital work they do. buff.ly/rrRtAB1

1.8% of patients CFS 6-9 survived to discharge. resuscitationjournal.com/article/S0300-… In this study by Lucy Pollock , those patients who do survive to discharge often have QoL not compatible with their values. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31519712/

📣 New Study Alert! Excited to share our latest on launching Acute Stroke Services at MNH-Mloganzila Hospitali ya Taifa Muhimbili-Mloganzila & bugando medical centre as part of the #TanzaniaStrokeProject 🇹🇿 In collab with World Stroke Org, MoH, WSO-FSL & more! Link: karger.com/doi/10.1159/00…

The new blog for British Geriatrics Society, by UHL’s Dr Chris Miller and Dr Emily Laithwaite, explores how our approach through the Frailty Same Day Emergency Care unit is helping deliver faster, safer, and more appropriate care for older adults. Read the blog here: bgs.org.uk/reimagining-em…

This is a fantastic example of what can be done when teams and individuals are focused on creative, thoughtful patient-centred care Chris Miller

Couldn't agree more Lucy Pollock ! If a care home resident is really unlucky, they fall and ambulance crew follow protocol which says off to ED and all else follows. Ambulance/paramedic access to cons geriatrician can reduce conveyances but NICE guidance needs to change.
