New study out on bioRxiv! We have studied how resources are shared between actin networks competing for a limited pool of components. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

6. We then studied the same situation, in presence of turnover and we saw that the size of the structures has a weak dependence with the number of beads in the microwell.

7. We then looked at structures with various densities in competition for limiting ressources. For that, we prepared "weak" and "strong" beads. Without turnover, when the two beads are in competition in the same microwell , the weak bead never start to grow.

Guerin Alvéole 10. We then demonstrated that when there is turnover, weak structures (from beads or micropatterns) can grow when they are in competition with strong networks. Turnover enables the weakest to exist!

Guerin Alvéole To challenge the limits of the system, we studied conditions with many beads in the microwells. We then looked at the fraction of weak beads moving, as a function of competition strength (defined by the number of strong beads).

On my way to #CellBio2024 in San Diego! I will talk in the "Physical Biology of the cytoplasm" subgroup on saturday at 12.15pm in Room 33B! Come if we want to hear about our last results on competitive networks!

Join us for this small, intensive workshop in the remote Alpine town of Arolla, where we will explore the dynamics of living systems across scales, from the cytoskeleton to embryos. Let’s dive into how cellular and tissue-scale dynamics shape life itself! meetings.ls2.ch/arolla2025
