Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Congress, and states to pass robust funding to make affordable child care the reality for all families. I'm struck by 106 million working-age Americans, their heterogeneity, who experience poverty and yet have no safety net. These are voters, members of our families and communities. Other rich countries do something about it. We can too! 🙏 The Brookings Institution The Hamilton Project

The US is exceptional in providing almost no safety net to (presumed) work-able, childless adults - 106 million people! No wonder that poverty among this demographic is a serious albeit largely unrecognized problem. From a new paper with Janet Gornick David Brady (@davebrady72.bsky.social) Zach Parolin (1/n)
