‘The Trouble with English’ by Sam Gibbs & Zoe Helman Co-Author: 'The Trouble with English... was a big help when trying to condense down the subject concepts I think KS3 students needed to grasp, rather than just thinking they’ve learned about separate texts. Here are the first 3 of 5 subject knowledge posters I made:

These are my top tops for making texts accessible. *1.5- double lined spaced *line numbers *Gloss the vocab immediately above the target word *Add image if easier than words (e.g pikes!) No 3 also means you can easily read both target & explainer word when reading to class.
