"Great to see the memorials. Excellent exhibition. Very knowledgeable team!" Lovely comments were shared during our Open House Festival event on Saturday, opening our amazing Memorial Hall at LFB LAMBETH! BIG thanks to the 380 visitors, & BIG thanks to our super team of volunteers!

Looks fantastic Bexhill Museum and great in the exhibition space too! Nice opportunity for us to share our steam fire engine! It was manufactured by Shand Mason in around 1890, and used by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, which became London Fire Brigade Brigade in 1904! 🚒

In November 1936 the impressive attraction known as the Crystal Palace burnt down. The fire itself was massive & could be seen for miles with around 88 fire engines attending the scene. Discover more in the London Fire Brigade Museum article here orlo.uk/rlziz #FireFactsFriday

This bittersweet scene is of Fireman James Roots receiving a Silver Gallantry Medal in 1936 for ‘extraordinary bravery’. Roots had attended a massive fire at a Milliners shop & tried to bravely rescue four people. Sadly they died & he was injured & hospitalised #FireFactsFriday
