It's been tricky down at Tamworth Road Narrows, the heavy rain at the start of June caused flooding where our volunteers are working. However, they've battled on and the canal wall is getting higher. (Meanwhile they're building a platform to protect their feet from the water.)

A big thanks to the M6toll team who spent their away day helping at Fosseway Heath 🌿 They cut back hedges, oiled benches, cleared brambles (nest checks done first) — and left the towpath to Wood Lock looking great! #WeDigCanals #Lichfield

Gallows Wharf update 🧱 Canal bed extended & wharf wall support beam in! Extension wall nearly done — just the soldier course left. We’re not pro brickies, but weather will sort the mortar stains! 💪

At Tamworth Road Narrows, the blockwork has now reached water level — so it’s time for bricks! The wall will rise up to the base of the gabion baskets, hiding the concrete behind beautiful brickwork. Pigeon added for scale 😂

Two machines, one mission — backfilling the top half of the bund wall under London Road Bridge! 💪 This temporary wall means we can water Gallows Reach while future work continues at St John’s Grange. #Lichfield #WeDigCanals

Our valiant volunteers have moved on to the next section of the pad base at Gallows Wharf — and were relieved to see the wharf wall has a much more substantial foundation from this point.
