In response to the mass die-offs of California sea cucumbers in Nanoose, BC, we'd officially like to ask the dive community to please count healthy and diseased sea cucumbers on your next dives and report your observations here: forms.gle/xjJhFZ3TZbWeEq…

Inaction is a choice; it’s a risk that has costs. @RyanPhelan6 does a great job highlighting intended consequences and the potential for genetic rescue!

What're your emerging approaches, concepts, and findings in marine biogeography, and how will they shape biogeography's future?

This Dungeness crab die off indicates there is a hypoxia event developing off the coast of central Oregon. Fishermen carrying oxygen sensors are reporting low O2 and dead crabs in pots. Keep an eye out and report what you see to PISCO Science or PRIMED Network

Recap: I #Resign @jbiogeography because big publishers prioritize profit over access, journal quality, an open market-place for ideas; while eroding editorial independence & devaluing editors (despite record revenues last year, e.g. WIley >$2b!). #JBI #BetterPublishing

We can change the system from within! A large portion of the publishing problem is us, academics. How about starting a new non or low-profit publishing company and all move there? No…bc we like the glossy journals and IFs.

Hub just released for exploring the genome of the ecologically important sunflower sea star, a community resource to facilitate genomically-informed conservation actions. MichaelNDawson
