A decade or so ago, this section of railway near Waterloo was dominated by buddleja, no longer. Now, tree-of-heaven, Ailanthus altissima rules the roost. @fungi_flowers

✅ Have lived in the UK for 15 years ✅ Always employed, without gaps, now running own restaurant ✅ Paid thousands of pounds in taxes ✅ Employing several people in our restaurant, directly and indirectly ❎ NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO GET SETTLED STATUS. This is ridiculous.

Less than 10 years ago, this was football pitches. An interesting case of rewilding through abandonment has happened in Warren Farm, West London. Now this is prime acid grassland with a large species richness. And it’s about to be covered in 5m of contaminated waste landfill. 😞

It sad so see this sort of clear-cut Pinus radiata forestry still going on. The exposed soil on the very steep hill is clearly eroding badly and likely to be adversely affecting nearly water courses.
