Bacteria can affect outcome of LDH assay used to measure cytotoxicity. Description of mechanisms + alternative approach proposed by Sara Van den Bossche (her first 1st author paper, congrats!) Eva Vandeplassche Lisa Ostyn @tcoenye AurĂ©lie CrabbĂ© frontiersin.org/articles/10.33âŠ

Yesterday evening we got an early visit from Santa. Did Santa look like Aurélie Crabbé and @tcoenye? #maybe

Very proud and happy to welcome Yuming Cai to our team at UGent Pharmacy ! Yuming obtained a highly competitive fellowship from Marie SkĆodowska-Curie Actions and will work on using repurposed drugs for antibiofilm treatment.

Great to see this paper for which PhD student Mona BovĂ© has worked so hard is now out! Key message: quorum sensing inhibitor C-30 is not âevolution-proofâ and quickly becomes ineffective as potentiator of tobramycin activity against P. aeruginosa #biofilms aac.asm.org/content/early/âŠ

Final day of #ECFS2021 kicking off with a 'What is new in microbiology' session including a talk by Aurélie Crabbé on microbial interactions.

Today we welcome Merel Wauters in our group at UGent Pharmacy. Merel will work with Aurélie Crabbé on nanobody-based treatments for P. aeruginosa induced inflammation.

Mona BovĂ© and @tcoenye investigated the antivirulence activity of the fosmidomycin derivative FR900098 in Burkholderia cenocepacia (alone and combined with cefta). Data show its activity is maintained during in vivo experimental evolution in C. elegans microbiologyresearch.org/content/journaâŠ

Our paper on the role of Rothia in limiting inflammation in the respiratory tract now published (erj.ersjournals.com/content/59/5/2âŠ) and ERS publications devoted an editorial to it: erj.ersjournals.com/content/59/5/2âŠ. Charlotte rigauts @tcoenye AurĂ©lie CrabbĂ© LMPH @ UAntwerpen

This afternoon (WS13) Sara Van den Bossche wil present her work on diversity in AMR of P. aeruginosa CF sputum isolates #ECFS2022 (supervisor: Aurélie Crabbé)

In the #ECFS2022 session 'Impact of biofilm in CF' that starts at 10.30 @tcoenye will discuss innovative approaches to treat #biofilm infections. Also in that session: Catherine Armbruster, Claus Moser and Jane Gross. Room Dock 1!

Today Sara Van den Bossche will defend her PhD work at UGent Pharmacy, she has worked on the impact of the #CF lung microenvironment on activity of antibiotics against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Main promotor is Aurélie Crabbé.

It's PhD time again. Today Xuerui Bao will present her PhD work in the public defense at UGent Pharmacy. Guess what - it's about #biofilms! đ Promotors are @tcoenye and AurĂ©lie CrabbĂ©, chair is @KatrienRemautUG.
