LYNX scholars had a thorough tour of the prestigious United States Naval Academy! Throughout their tour they learned about the requirements to apply and get accepted! They also explored the grounds and observed midshipmen in action! FCPS-MD

LYNX scholars visited YMCA Camp West Mar to participate in team-building activities, explore job opportunities, practice skills needed to work with young people, and develop an “elevator pitch” to be used in a future job interview! FCPS-MD

LYNX Scholars visited Albert Powell Trout Hatchery to explore aquaculture and working at a fish hatchery! Students learned about raising fish from eggs to adults, how to protect fish, daily care of grounds, and what happens after they leave the hatchery.FCPS-MD

LYNX scholars toured Canam Steel Inc. to explore career opportunities in welding and local manufacturing. FCPS-MD

Reps from PIA showed LYNX scholars how to pursue a career in Aviation Technology and the transferable skills you gain with their programs! Students also learned about careers in Aeronautics from Hagerstown Aviation Museum through an interactive tour! ⁦FCPS-MD⁩

LYNX Scholars visited Piece O’Cake Bakery to learn about owning and operating a bakery! During their visit, they mixed, baked, and decorated gourmet cupcakes all while getting quality advice about the schooling and skills needed in the culinary industry! FCPS-MD

LYNX scholars learned how to use Frederick County Transit Services by mapping out a route and then riding the bus to downtown Frederick.FCPS-MD

LYNX scholars explorered careers in tourism and how tourism impacts Frederick City commerce with the Frederick Visitor Center staff! FCPS-MD

LYNX scholars explored The Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick to learn about opportunities for teens interested in art! FCPS-MD

Representatives from ⁦Rehab 2 Perform⁩ engaged LYNX scholars in various exercises and physical tests to show what their daily routine is like as a physical therapist! ⁦FCPS-MD⁩

LYNX scholars met with several representatives from Frederick County Animal Control to learn about a vast array careers related to veterinary medicine and animal care. They shared with students the education, training, and compassion needed to treat animals. FCPS-MD

Dynamic Automative welcomed LYNX scholars into their Urbana location and gave them a comprehensive tour of their incredible facility and explained the training and support they provide aspiring mechanics, which includes apprenticeship opportunities! FCPS-MD Dynamic Auto
