Yesterday students from all 3 UGA campuses taking the #UAV Technology class had a fun lab day in the field to practice their flying skills. They also learned the applications of GNSS and the importance of using GCPs. 🧑‍🏫

Congrats to my PhD student Binita Ghimire for the 3rd place on the poster competition 👏. Congrats to Ujjwal Sigdel for the 2nd place on the MS poster competition. Ujjwal is working under Dr. Aurelie Poncet at the University of Arkansas and will be joining my lab this spring.

Wrapping up the 1st semester of the UAV Technology for Crop Sciences course! Despite the challenge of teaching a hands-on course to students in 3 different campuses, I believe I can say it was a success. A big thanks to Emily Bedwell for an excellent work as a TA!🛩️🌾💻

Planting the first #corn trial of 2024 at the UGA SIRP in collaboration with Dr. Preet Virk.

Our lab is getting to full speed for the season. From soil mapping and soil sampling to testing our lateral irrigation system. Today we were out in the field doing the uniformity test, and checking the VRI rates for one of our corn trials.

Planting and applying variable N rates to our last two field corn trials! A great way to wrap up this week. A special thanks to Anthony Black and the Midville crew and Gabriel and his crew at the Iron Horse farm for doing such a great Job. 🌽🚜👊

Back at work after another great #ICPA conference. My group was well represented with 3 of our students, 5 oral presentations and one poster. It is always exciting to share our findings and see all the hard work these students are putting in the field yielding exciting results 👏

I had the pleasure to host a group of 8 researchers from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Brazil, to further strengthen collaborations between UFLA and UGA. Thanks to my colleague and friend Adão Felipe for the ongoing collaboration and for organizing this trip.
