After working weekends for the last five years, I am ~loving~ having Saturdays off. Met Laura Blake for coffee, grabbed lunch at AngelasBirmingham with Bite Your Brum (she/her) Ian McEwan, worked on my book, ran errands, and stopped by Soi 1268 for the special Thai New Year menu. Sublime! ✨

No bullshit or hyperbole, the cooking at AngelasBirmingham tonight has been as good as any visit I’ve ever had here. Pretty immaculate. Bonus points for the tiny terrace that almost makes you forget about the scaffolding

embarrassingly it is the first time I've tried Stu Deeley menu AngelasBirmingham Stracciatella / wye valley asparagus / peach / garlic / chill. Queenie Scallops / smoked tomato / preserved lemon. Spaghetti Carbonara with shaved truffle. This made me close my eyes with delight.
