Have you ever looked into a pond or a lake, seen this, and wondered what could have made such perfect sediment circles? These are the nests of sunfishes! Males guard fertilized eggs while also fanning fresh oxygenated water over them. Nebraska #inktober

Not a #sundayfishsketch, but a great example of Müllerian mimicry for #Nebraska #inktober. Monarch and Viceroy butterflies are both toxic. By looking similar, if one species gets eaten and poisons a predator, that predator is unlikely to predate on anything that looks similar!
