Yes, and the long cycle of Dems bailing out GOP recklessness arguably made the bomb-throwing worse over time. With rescue guaranteed, GOP no longer felt responsibility to govern - just to placate their extremist wing and internal politics. Sometimes the adults need to say “no.”
