Great news! Our resolution to allow new parents to vote remotely is one step closer to a vote on the House floor. No Member of Congress should have to choose between caring for their newborn and representing their constituents. I’m so grateful for my co-leads Rep. Anna Paulina Luna,

If you had asked me to rank possible procedural meltdowns during the 119th House, I would not have placed one involving a discharge petition about *proxy voting* from a *Republican* high on my list, yet here we are.

Next steps: – Rep. Luna will be able to call up the motion to discharge at a time determined by the speaker within two legislative days. – The motion will be debatable for 20 minutes, after which the House will vote on the motion.

After decades of Congress being more representative, 2024 brought a decline. Women, Latino, and Native American representation declined. The issue isn’t just who voters pick, it’s who the parties put on the ballot. Read more from our author Eric Juenke: goodauthority.org/news/its-2025-…

Great piece reminding everyone that members of Congress are people too! Their job demands and environment are unique but the problems are not unsolvable.

Tina Smith just pulled Mike Lee out of a Republicans-only briefing on their tax-and-spending bill. The pair spoke for a couple of minutes before Smith walked away. When I asked what she said to him, she said “let me just gather myself” before rushing back onto the Senate floor.

On August 23, 2024, Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee with less than 90 days to mount a formal campaign. Her path to the nomination was unprecedented—but so was the grassroots energy behind her, particularly from Black women.

On the 1-yr anniversary of SCOTUS overturning the Chevron doctrine, Congress has not only failed to step up, but is now slashing sources of nonpartisan expertise. The First Branch is sadly validating critics & failing the Loper Bright test. thehill.com/opinion/congre…

Remember when economists at a scientific journal randomized who authored a paper? 65% recommended rejecting the manuscript when it came from an early career scholar... But only 23% recommended reject when it came from a Nobel laureate from the same university.
