An excellent paper that I highly recommend for understanding the historical roots of competition policy merging with worker protection.

TRAPs require workers to repay the supposed costs of job training if they leave work or are terminated within a set period of time. They're often used as workarounds to non-competes but still have harmful effects on workers. via Jonathan F. Harris: harvardlawreview.org/blog/2025/01/h…

(Non-)Update! The FTC is asking for an additional 60 days (on top of the 120 days already granted) to decide whether they will appeal the universal vacatur of its hugely popular non-compete rule. The FTC already took in >26,000 public comments. Who are they waiting for?

I'm really glad to see this after spending years researching the harms of Training Repayment Agreement Provisions (TRAPs), especially on RNs. Here's my article that brought these contracts to light: ssrn.com/abstract=36420…

This was one of the first examples that really showed how unfair TRAPs (Training Repayment Agreement Provisions) can be. Reminded me of when Jimmy John’s had workers sign non-competes. Now states are banning TRAPs.

AG Weiser’s lawsuit seeks long-overdue justice for pet groomers trapped under $1000s in predatory debt after attending PetSmart’s so-called grooming academy. States are fighting against TRAPs, and Colorado Attorney General is leading the charge. protectborrowers.org/colorado-attor…
