I would like to see a reframe on coaching education that includes a focus on a coach and their ability, not just their development for the players they work with. I always hear ‘my players’ or ‘coaching my team’.

As a coach, what is your absolutely essential item you have or use, or feel lost without? Thinking, tactics board, maybe your boots, cones, balls, whistle if you use one, camera for reflection etc etc.

How do you explain bigger picture thinking to your team? How do you tell them that what we're doing now might not help in the immediate (tomorrow), but it will in 6 months...

Coaching has this funny little problem: everyone has a coach… except the coach. Athletes get pep talks. Parents get explanations. Admins get updates. And we get— the steering wheel on the drive home. We’re the ones who stay level even when we don’t feel level. We’re the ones

I love to let kids get their hands on the tactics board, and move the pieces, like a game. I hate to let kids get their hands on the tactics board, and move the pieces BECAUSE THEY LOSE THE PIECES.

Did Poch ever coach at Spurs with a sweater neatly tied around his neck? 💀 Working my brain for a ‘Wally with the brolly’ reference here.

Parents- Do not let one youth coach derail the aspirations of your child. The 11-16 year olds are all over the place. Puberty rewards some, takes its time with others. Keep playing. Have fun. Learn. And then see what that all means in time. #TOVO

Any recommendations for developing soft skills? Engaging with parents, making friends with other coaches, developing people, smiling, seeing the bigger picture of life versus the silver tournament you're desperate to win?
