Small taste of #Hurricane #MELISSA on SW coast of #Jamaica, just as we started getting raked by violent right eyewall. Belive it or not, this was before the peak conditions, when everything turned white, the screaming sound became unbearable, & we needed to bolt the door shut.

Good afternoon. Unfortunately, due to continued ocean overwash during the day today, NC12 on the north end of Ocracoke Island will remain CLOSED tonight. Elsewhere, NC12 remains open and passable with sand and water on the road in several locations. Please drive carefully.

Only got to watch the first half due to my early bedtime, but what a way to open the season. Just have to feel like something special could be starting with the Will Wade era at NC State. Go Pack!

While there's no guarantee, there's a chance we could see the Northern Lights again in North Carolina tonight. Here's what to look for: specne.ws/FMC2GS #ncwx #WeatherOnThe1s

Gusty winds will increase the risk for wildfire danger across much of #NorthCarolina on Sunday. We see more than 4,500 wildfires in NC annually, with nearly 99% caused by human activities, such as backyard burning and campfires. spectrumlocalnews.com/weather #ncwx #WeatherOnThe1s
