Rare find today of cutleaf nightshade (left). Black nightshade (right) is more common. Probably eastern black but can’t tell until has berries and I try hard to not let it get that big

Almost 3” of rain last night and heavy fog all morning.

Hail is definitely a 4 letter word. Too early to know for sure but looks like most of these soys will survive. Tough little buggers.

Scouting fields all day in wind like this is like being in a pillow fight with a 9 yr old. You know you’re going to win but it still sucks.

Glad I have an old pickup around. Had to put it in service while the mail work pickup was broke down. It did a good job and kept us in the field.

That’s a bad day waiting to happen.

Find at least 1 golf ball in this field every year. And you’ve gotta shank it pretty good because the fairway is on the other side of those trees; at least 85-100 yards away.

Well that’s a wrap in scouting for this week. 840 miles on the 1 pickup and 520 on my atv. That doesn’t include the other pickup or other 2 atvs.

Too soggy to do much scouting today. Made sure weed control is working and checked some stands on foot. But I did spend a couple hours with some of the best farmers/friends anyone could ask for.

Great picture my wife, copilot and administrative executive took today of the scout crew in a beautiful barley field.

Had a couple warm days and the corn really grew. Hopefully we get a lot more warm weather soon.

Interesting find today. False camomile can be pretty tough weed.

July 8 and lot of 3” tall soybean fields. Even better fields are far from canopy. No canopy until very late is 1 reason weed control is hard in this crop.

On my way to a meeting but the mustang can check a couple fields.

This will be great fun!
