"Horizons are closed only as long as we can't see far enough. We can prepare by pushing the reverse Brexit, pro-free movement, open border, re-join EU message in unions and the Labour Party." #Rejoin workersliberty.org/story/2024-09-…

In an answer to a question I put down last week, the Treasury conceded that the worst Brexit pain is yet to come. We are all paying for this mess.

Lionel Barber The first Tory MP who stands up and says, "Sorry but cutting links with Europe is damaging to our country. It's time to rethink" is going to a) be famous overnight b) get other Tories saying "He's may be right." c) put Labour on spot as PM seems wedded to Johnson hard Brexit

At the end of a significant week for world politics it’s time for a reappraisal of the UK’s place in the world. Now we must recognise that our interests lie in a Europe which shares our values, not in a USA which clearly does not. We have been making that point in Leeds today.

Well done, and thanks to Leeds for Europe (now on Bluesky) πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ for their excellent campaigning and taking the rejoin discussion to the streets of Leeds With Trump’s victory the UK needs to be closer to the EU for all our sakes.

At the end of a week which has exposed the folly of the UK withdrawing from the European Union we have been on the streets of Leeds hearing views on Trump and what it means for us here in the UK. Conclusion? We share far more values with Europe than we do with Trump’s America.

β€œThe quicker we restore our position at the heart of Europe the better – from our point of view, from Europe’s point of view and from the world’s point of view.” Well said by European Movement President Michael Heseltine, speaking to The Independent: independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Starmer makes a point often missed about ending freedom of movement. Migration figures were lower when we were in the EU. Because Europeans could live, work, study in the UK for as long as they wanted - and then leave. Now, migrants are more likely to move permanently. #PMQs
