My very first first-author paper is out where we studied habitat use and effect of a high-head hydropower storage plant on the behaviour of anadromous brown trout during spawning migration using acoustic telemetry💥🐟1/3. doi.org/10.1186/s40462… Bergen Telemetry Network #NFR_LaKES

Attending the ‘Fish migrations; science, management and politics’ course at UiT Norges arktiske universitet, led by @EvaThorstad and Audun Rikardsen. Exciting to learn, discuss, and share experiences about fish tracking!!

Thrilled to share my first PhD paper! 🎓Our study reveals striking differences in fjord migration between Atlantic salmon and brown trout. Curious to learn more? 🐟🔍Dive deeper here: doi.org/10.1111/jfb.15… #telemetry #salmonids #migration Kim Birnie-Gauvin, Ph.D Kim Aarestrup

Spent the two last days out on the fjords downloading data from numerous acoustic receivers! Been waiting for this day since we tagged the first spiny dogfish in late October 2022. Eager to explore the data for my first PhD chapter!! #NFR_LOST Bergen Telemetry Network

New paper from IFI Research: vulnerability of different #Irish #salmonid stream habitats to #climate events. Despite same climate conditions, neighbouring streams can show very different responses, which can inform fishery conservation strategies. doi.org/10.1111/fme.12…

New paper published lead by Robert Lennox. Comparative study of the kelt phase of anadromous brown trout and Atlantic salmon using acoustic telemetry. We found a difference in overwintering habitat use and timing of river exit between the two species. doi.org/10.1111/eff.12…

A few days ago Lotte Dahlmo was out trying to capture spiny dogfish with a photographer who’s making a film for the #NFR_LOST project. It started out slow, but as they found the right spot, the dogfish were biting as soon as the bait hit the bottom🦈 (there’ll be better clips!)

Interested in the effects of dam removal on smolt migration after passing multiple barriers? Check out our new paper! Olle Calles @Andrew_Harbicht Umea Telemetry Group RivEM KarlstadUni LIFE CONNECTS Uniper Sweden onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Who is behind the project? 👀 We are Lotte Pohl(Lotte Pohl), David Casals (David Casals Blanch) and Lotte Dahlmo (Lotte Dahlmo), three early career marine biologists! Let us introduce ourselves 😊

Lots of fun presenting data from my first two PhD chapters on spiny dogfish tracking that I’m currently working on! 🦈 Bergen Telemetry Network
