Seriously, I hope there are sensible people around Musk who could consider making an intervention. He is clearly not well and needs professional help.

🚨 A recent article in The Times and The Sunday Times by political editor Steven Swinford contained a major factual error - the claim that demand for EVs was falling After our complaint to @ipsonews, and some stonewalling by the paper, the article has finally been corrected A thread 🧵

Global surface temperatures set a new record in 2024, exceeding 1.5C above preindustrial levels in the majority of datasets. It was more than 0.1C warmer than the prior record set in 2023, and more than 0.25C warmer than any year prior to that.

Scientists developed the first climate models in the late 1960s (for which the Nobel Prize in physics was recently awarded!). How have these models held up against what happened in the real world after they were published? Surprisingly well, it turns out:

Just tragic to see how fast the descent of the Conservatives has been since the days of cross-party consensus on climate action. They are now promoting random people/trolls on the internet (who actively hide their identities) plus dark-money lobbyists. Sad

This is my farewell post. I am not deleting this account, as I don’t want to lose the archive, and I don’t want my name taken by imposters. But, for as long as Musk owns the platform, I’ll no longer use it. I’m now posting at georgemonbiot.bsky.social. Since Elon Musk bought this

Had the most ridiculous response to an FOI that I have ever received. Request for information was refused because it might "divert internal Defra resource away from work required to improve chalk streams." Didn't realise the information rights team were out cleaning our streams!
