The charming in action!

Nice day in the field measuring CO2 fluxes manually and with an eddy covariance tower and taking soil samples at what we hope will be the end of a very dry period. We’ll be back after the rain (whenever that may be!) 🤞

Happening now, our ‘after the rain’ measurement! Our manual CO2 readings very clearly show a big increase in soil respiration, and so does the eddy covariance tower. (Also: 🎶 it’s my birthday and I’ll measure if I want to 🎵)

The final and most exciting phase of the network of drought experiments within my European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant has commenced: field manipulations to test the impact of drought on plant-microbe and plant-plant interactions, and the resulting growth of seedlings!

Hurrah!! The first *data* paper from my European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant has just been accepted, brilliantly led by @MariGliesch 🎉 Stay tuned for how heathland management affects the impact of 15 years of summer drought on soil!
