NYSBOE: “Many County Boards of Elections will actually send bipartisan teams to the jails with voter registration and/or ballot request forms to assist in the process” Good! But these voters need to be protected. Without a law, they’re vulnerable. lohud.com/story/news/pol…

Some officials like the bipartisan commissioners in Ulster have taken the lead, ensuring eligible detained citizens can vote, without waiting for Albany. But this varies widely, and most counties reported to LWV of New York they have no formal program. cityandstateny.com/opinion/2024/0…

Fortunately, Elections Chairs Latrice Walker and NYS Senator Zellnor Y. Myrie 米维 have a bill called the Democracy During Detention Act to address this injustice. Are your state reps co-sponsors? If not, ask them to sign on ASAP and help fix this.

I was so proud to stand with Let NY Vote this afternoon to call for expanded voter accessibility, education, & integrity in our elections. Our democracy is strongest when every voice is heard. I look forward to addressing these issues + more in our committee & on the Senate floor.
