Meanwhile in Europe: the Impossible Burger is still 100% illegal. Thank you, anti-GMO people, for protecting us from sustainable, humane and delicious plant-based burgers. 🙃

This is hands down the best podcast I've ever heard on factory farming. It’s wild how few people know what really goes on behind their meat and dairy. Imagine if we actually taught these basic facts in school. Thank you Lewis Bollard and Liv Boeree youtube.com/watch?v=3pbe9m…

Factory farmed meat is now "natural meat" And the aspirations of a few tiny cultured meat startups is now a "project" that will lead to a "legislation phase" banning meat And this is the "smart" case for banning cultivated meat?

This is a big win for French + German animal advocates. First they exposed the cruelty of killing day-old chicks. Next they got their governments to invest in in-ovo sexing tech to replace it. Then they banned the practice. Now chick-killing is on the way out across Europe.

South Korea's likely next President, Lee Jae-myung, says they'll subsidize animal welfare certified farms. This is a great idea. The world's governments waste hundreds of billions annually on farm subsidies. Just a fraction of that could transform farm animal welfare.

When giant meat corporations took over, bankrupted family farms, and forced factory-grown meat on us, the populists were silent. Now that a few small companies are offering an alternative to factory-grown meat, the populists are furious. I really don't get populism.

90%+ of Americans -- Ds and Rs alike -- agree it's wrong to treat animals this way. State ballot measures to ban this cruelty have won easily, from CA to FL. Now pork industry lobbyists are pushing Congress to wipe out these state bans in the Farm Bill. They must be stopped.

Switzerland will soon require stores to label products from animals subject to painful mutilations without pain relief. Prediction: this will lead industry to end the cruel practices, as they know they can't justify them to informed consumers. I hope other nations copy this.

As I've gotten obsessed with our food's impact on our planet, I've been criticized for downplaying its impact on animals. It's a fair criticism! Here Lewis Bollard documents how far more (but not all) US chickens are now cage-free, a massive shift. farmanimalwelfare.substack.com/p/crunch-time-…

Texas just passed a law to require warning labels on foods with potentially toxic additives. Incredibly, the law excludes all meat products and additives. So bleached flour will have a warning label, but chlorinated chicken and ractopamine-fed pork will not.
