Hate when people say an athlete is a “great player, even better person.” Freddie Freeman is a 99.99999th percentile athlete to pick up a baseball bat. There’s no way he’s that good of a person. Nice enough guy, but he didn’t exactly discover gravity or invent the printing press.

I know this sounds like hyperbole, but genuinely this could end up being the greatest single-day meet in the history of track and field.

The few tickets that still remain are hovering around $1,000, while Lane County’s sports commission is projecting $3.6 million in economic impact from this weekend’s 50th installment of the Nike Prefontaine Classic. The full story 📝 forbes.com/sites/corymull…

Really excited to launch Football Architects — a pet project for three months. Telling the unsung stories behind modern football success stories, we'll have tales (with podcasts) from Belgium, Croatia, England, and more... First up? The Ajax academy, nytimes.com/athletic/64453…

Think the Jota news also makes you think about we look at age for footballers. In my eyes he’s been around for ages, but he was only 28 - had so much of his life ahead of him still, absolutely heartbreaking stuff.

It’s Jacob Whitehead so obviously it’s good but by his own standards this series is excellent. You’ll learn things and be entertained along the way

Yeah the Jota news has absolutely sent me. Another reminder once again that life can be so short and remember who and what are important. So glad he achieved what he did because 28 is absolutely no age to go. Tell your people that you love them ❤️

I’m not trying to create any beef but Mercier Scoring tables says that 13:58 for 5000 is equivalent to 4:04 in the Mile. That was run with legal shoes. It was run on gun time. It was without male pacers running her all the way to the finish line. Just saying. That was special.
